I just got back from custom music in Detroit- The hb is way to expencive for the lack of quality. The B&S line of tubas were at the same level as the hirshies but cost 5-6,000 less. I would recomend the B&S pt4 or pt4p it has a very comfortable valve set and wonderful playing characteristics and I personaly believe the pt4p is better than the same size hirshy I tried and costs less. My all time personal favorite is the pt20ps Its the same as the pt4p but has a larger bell so it works well for every situation. If you like rotars go for the pt3 or pt4. They are real nice!! Try them before you spend 10,000+ on a tuba!!!! The pt20 has a rotar valve horn that is awesome. call or e-mail custom music and check out there site in the shops section of tubenet.
