Hi Folks -
Forgive the slimy self-promotion bit...
For all of you in the Maryland-Virginia-D.C. area:
The next two Thursdays, 16 March and 23 March, I will be soloing with
The Frederick Orchestra in Frederick, MD, as part of their educational
concert series.
The conductor, a trumpet player, and I got to joking around about what
tune I should play, and it ended up being me playing the entire Haydn
Trumpet Concerto in Eb on tuba with orchestra.
For what it's worth, I think it is the "premiere" of the tuba and
orchestra version of the Haydn. I'm sure Haydn purists and trumpet
players around the globe will feel a sick feeling in their stomachs
the next two Thursday nights...
