Yeah, I second the comment on the PT-4 rotary. The first one I played was at the Lexington conf., a silver one at the Custom booth. It was the first horn I picked up just to warm-up on, and I didn't want to put it down. Dark when you needed it and the bark was there when you pushed it "just right". The high register had a nice crispness that would blend with a quintet very well. Intonation was right on and response was quicker than the piston version. Didn't have the 7500 on me at the time, or it would have been mine. They can be found used once in a while, finally, a good bit cheaper.

I think the newer 188s are quicker in response than the older models; my 70-something 188 was a good horn, but a bit ponderous and overpowering for quintet, unless the other guys play like the CSO section.
