For once the maestro was right.
At a NY Phil concert a few years ago, a guest conductor came on stage, turned to the players, gained their attention, drew himself up for the downbeat, and a cell phone went off. And kept ringing. The conductor waited, fidgeting impatiently with his baton. Finally on the fifth ring, he turned around facing the audience and said, "Well. . .Answer it!"
