Man, I've encountered just about every frustration imaginable that's related to the tuba, You feel like screaming, but the most important thing is don't give-up. when I go home for breaks or take a weekend off from the horn just to leave it alone. But when I'm away all I can do is think about different, creative ways to approach the instrument which might help the slump. Best advice I could offer is to work on your breathing. For myself, any problem I've had in the past year was due to insufficient air. If your using good air (lots of it and under low pressure) then these embochure problems, articulations, high range, etc.... all seem to fix themselves. Lack of tension and lots of relaxed air is the best thing you could do, fixes things real fast.
