The only way that you can luck into coming close to pinpointing the date of manufacture is to find someone with an old King instrument in the high 16,XXX to mid 17,XXX serial # range with the ORIGINAL PURCHASE RECEIPT. These are rare. You could post an inquiry such as this on Trumpet Geeks International (another bbs that uses this same software). You are far more likely to find a trumpet or cornet (as described above) than a tuba.
