To paraphrase Nietzche:

"That which does not kill us, makes us stronger"

I do a fair amount of playing on both the tuba and the euphonium, and find that the work on the euphonium actually helps to define my high playing on the tuba. I'm certain that it does me no favors on the low end of the horn, but as long as you continue to do routine low work on the tuba, you should be fine.

I'd take the gig...it will round you out as a low brass player and make you a more effective teacher down the road. Besides (donning protective gear), the euphonium is so much less work than playing the tuba, you'll have a blast.

Good luck!

Dave
