I played one of these on and off for two years in my high school and was anything but impressed. They always felt very stuffy to me and the valve action seemed slugish. As far as buying one, like everyone else said it depends how good the price is. There are alot of good used horns out there and if you're going to spend $3000 and want a shiny new horn (like me) I don't think there's a better horn for the money than the VMI 2103 (of course I am biased as I own one and love it). hope this helps, even though i've basically said the same thing as everyone else.
