When I was in Switzerland, I took a lesson from Roger Bobo. It is ALWAYS good to get a check up from someone who you trust. Also, I took a lesson from Floyd Cooley. He is a WONDERFUL teacher. If anyone comes NEAR the SF Bay Area, you MUST get a lesson from him. For my upcoming recital, I have engaged Barry Guerrero to hear one of my rehearsals. While he is not a professional player, he is one of the most astute LISTENERS I have ever known. There is a recording engineer (Tom Johnson of Johnson Digital Audio) here in the San Jose area who has recorded me a million times (ok a SLIGHT exageration) who can listen to me and tell me if I'm forcing, or not doing SOMETHING right. It never hurts to have another set of ears around. And isn't that what teaching is all about, listening and making suggestions???
