Yes, but that's not the case here. The rights belong to one person, who is still very much with us. No litigation involved. We are given to understand that the masters are long gone, but that was Richard's point--pristine copies of the LP do exist and the recordings can be remastered from those with reasonably good results. The only obstacle for re-releasing this recording is that the owner find a way to do it that doesn't invade his life or finances. My point was to try to suggest ways to do that (that Brian can pass along) without using the legal issues as an excuse. If Jay wants it to happen, there will be people ready to help him make it happen.

And Richard's point is that he does not need to fear losing his shirt--the demand is there to make it commercially viable. A person in Richard's position can say such things credibly, and he is also in a position to suggest means of getting it done.
