Talk to the director and voice your situation or concerns. Maybe the problem if any is not you. Maybe the problem is the ensemble balance. We just recently lost a euph player in our band because of a similar situation. If you don't communicate with your fellow players things tend to fall apart real quick. In this case the director should be able determine the course of action. If you feel that you are lacking then by all means put more time in but the rest of the ensemble should play to the ensemble not to the what they think is the ensemble. The guy out front dictates what that is.
