I am in the same situation as you are. I returned to playing last year after about an 18 year layoff. My son, who is also a tuba player, private instructor recommendeda St. Petersburg. YES THE DREADED ST. PETERSBURG that everyone bashes here excpet those who actually own them, i.e. the tubist for the Minasota Symphony. They are great for the returneing tuba player, BBb 4/4, 4 rotarys, approx $3100. I play in a local community band and in a recently formed brass ensemble. Goto www.tubaexchange.com for information on them. The Tuba Exchange is in NC and also deal in many other brand tubas.
