I am a chemist and this appears pretty unlikely to me, certainly the part about the up-and-down motion of the piston providing the driving force. Galvanic corrosion would be driven by the relative ease of oxidation of the metals; it wouldn't need any piston motion to drive it. I suspect that brass is not nearly as easily oxidized as the above message would imply. If it were, corrosion would be a universal problem with all new horns, and it would begin as soon as the valves were inserted at the factory. I wonder if this problem is from materials in the tubing which were not removed after manufacture.
