I agree with the others: mothpiece choice is personal. Yes, different mouthpieces can change how your horn feels, but it is a symbiosis between you, the mouthpiece, and the horn.
My suggestion - try as many as you can! Only try them on your own horn, as that is where they make a difference. Ask around. Even see if you can borrow other folks' mouthpieces, even for a few minutes.
You might want to start asking people who play the same horn as you (although I tried that & everyone I asked uses a different mouthpiece - no kidding! - although I do have an odd horn). The real question is what is best FOR YOU.
I use a Bach Mt. Vernon 25 for most of my work, but use my Bach 18 when I need a darker sound (or am playing mostly pedal notes). The 18 came with a horn I once bought, and the 25 was given to me, so cost may not be an issue.
