I will go out on a limb and personally state that I cannot stand Perantucci mouthpieces, however because the rim feels "goofy" to me. I like the current offering of mouthpieces that Dillon music has and the rims make me feel very comfortable without sacrificing flexibility and articulation. Depending on the tuba, a Bach 18,12 or 7 or even a 24AW may work well for you. I like the idea that was previously stated by Philip Farkas about picking a standard and mastering it, however there are two "standards" in the tuba world in my opinion the Bach 18 and the Conn Helleberg. Both of these are cheap comparitively and offer good startind points, however they are radically different. Try them both to see which better suits you now and as you develop as a player on whichever you choose hypothesize on how they could be better and them I'm sure that this will lead you in the right direction.
