Bell inscription does not indicate either imperial or new standard. Only "50 medals of honour", "Besson, London, Paris, New York", made in England. Imperial is only a guess on my part. I was told by the parents of the original owner that it was purchased new about 20 years ago, so actual production of '78 sounds about right. Horn tends to play a few cents flat, but that may change with the addition of new pads (felts all look to be hand made by original owner). The sound can be described almost like a sousaphone with the bell detatched (exaggerated), that solid core punch. Be interesting to see how well it projects in a hall.
