lacquered = gold color and shiny. This finish consists of clear paint sprayed over shiny brass. Clean it with furniture polish and a soft cloth.

nickel plated = not very common. It is unlikely that your instrument is coated with nickel. There are special polishing for this, but many silver polishing solutions will also work...

silver plated = looks very white-silver when shined up (just like your Mom's silver plated stuff in your dining room). This (like nickel plating) is an electro-metal bonded coating (thin) over brass. Shine this up in the same way you would shine up anything else that is silver plated, and be cautious not to let polishing materials get inside your instrument.
