My guess would be a leaking ferrule somewhere. I rectified a similar problem on a 15-yr-old Hirsbrunner HB-2 just a week ago. The player said the intonation had gone wacky, particularly three notes, and we found that the ferrule from the 4th branch to the bottom bow was leaking, very slightly. It was just a little, but enough to seriously impair the playability of the horn. The repair did not take long, and was not expensive.
