I never knew the whole story about where the Harvard BBBb came from, but there was a "legend" of sorts that there had been two of them at Carl Fischer in New York, and someone had bought one and given it to the band - fate of the other was unknown.
I played the Harvard horn in 1958 or so, and it had been there for quite a few years before that as I recall
Maybe next time I'm in Cambridge I'll try to research it a bit.
