Phil Sloffer who was my predecessor here as tubist in the Fort Wayne Philharmonic always played BBb. He was only in his 20s when he left here, but that was over 30 years ago. You can guess his age from that. He came to my studio at Christmass time a couple of years ago looking for a BBb to buy. After trying the few BBbs that I had, I suggested that he give one of my King 2341 CC conversions a try. The short take of it all is that he was back before the Christmas break was over (he's now head of the piano tecnology and tuning department at IU-Bloomington) saying that he had to have that horn. He hasn't looked back at BBb since. Many of us feel the CC has a slightly more focused sound that may project better in orchestra and works well in small ensembles. BTW, if you looking for a great CC for a reasonable price contact me privately.
