I don't understand. Our band director would keel over dead if ANY of the tuba players came in with their own horn, in any key! They beg the better players to "step up" to a better sax, trombone, trumpet... and then tell a tuba player they can't play a superior instrument. I agree wholeheartedly with the post suggesting you get your parents involved. Don't burn any bridges, but be firm. Play the bloody CC! Practice until you can burn the rotors off your tuba playing compadres. SHOW the director you are making a step up. It's your horn and your future. Go for it!
