Alright, I will post my experience now....

Last year I got a new HB-21 (CC) and before that I owned a Mirafone 186 (BBb). I wanted to play the CC in band class and the director said no, so I got my teacher to talk to him and he said no, so I got my parents to talk to him and he said no......so....I sold my BBb tuba (thus buying an F tuba) and that was the end of that. All of a sudden I didn't have the choice. I realize that this situation is not exactly the same, but if the player is capable of playing the CC fingerings then by all means, let's not stifle him. The question here is not about your band director, but rather about you. If you are willing to put in the time to really learn the CC fingerings then no competent director will stand in your way. enough said
