I'm sorry but i'm going to have to disagree here. I can't think of one big music school, university or conservatory, where the key of your tuba or whether you have an F tuba is essential. Playing the tuba is playing the tuba and thankfully most professors who are accepting freshman realize this. If you sound like crap on your schools BBb Yamaha I don't think a Hirsbrunner is going to really be all that better. There is a very small amount of incoming freshman that already have a CC AND an F tuba. There is going to come a time when the guy needs to buy these horns, but he doesn't need to be sweatin' it in high school. His teacher in college will help him find a good F tuba and more than likely he'll upgrade his CC tuba to a better brand or something bigger.
