I use a doug elliott bass bone mouthpiece. 116 rim which is a little larger that a bach 1 or schilke 60. I have the same problems with endurance. I ordered a plastic (lexan) 116 rim and that helped a lot. The plastic is less slippery and takes less facial muscle control to play in the upper register so I don't get as tired as with the gold plated rim. I prefer the "tenor tuba" sound so I never really considered going to a smaller mouthpiece(plus I play bass bone and prefer not swithing mouthpieces).
