I have had bad experiences with the mentioned dealer. And I did not buy a St. Pete from Frieder at his much lower price, even if the St. Pete from him, which I had the chance to try here in Denmark, had very well functioning valves.

So I can understand your use of terms. Yet I see other problems in aspects of that marketing scheme.

A good deal of the St. Petes sold in the US are bought by school band directors and by parents, that are not tuba specialists. How shall they defend themselves against dubious goods, that are endorsed by respected tuba names? One of them even lending his name to the mouthpiece, that comes with the St. Pete.

On this board of mostly knowledgeable contributors, a retired brass teaching person coming lately to the tubas can not do much harm by uttering his odd and strictly personal ideas.

But I think that more or less official endorsers of goods intended for a market of mostly novice and cashstrapped buyers should think more than twice about the long term effects of their endorsements.
