I own one of these horns and I use it when I really need a small F tuba type sound. The horn is great for playing 2nd trombone music in quartets. I had a 5th valve installed on mine and for the total cost, it is a pretty hard horn to beat. The only problem I have with the horn is that the typical problem notes for an F tuba are also on this horn. In this case, low C and B require extra attention. The mouthpipe receiver on mine is quite small and I recently purchase a Doug Elliott mouthpiece that has a shank that fits better into the receiver. This helped the response of the problem notes a little bit but not a lot.

Overall, I'd say this is a great horn for certain situations. I wouldn't recommend this horn as a main instrument because I don't feel it is very versatile. As cheap as they are, if you get a good one it is nice to have around for occasional usage.

My opinion for what it's worth...
