I have owned both, although mine were both made in the 60s. The King was lighter, and had a brighter sound. The Conn has a fuller, darker sound and is more responsive. I sold the King and kept the Conn. There are a few times that I wish I still had the King, especially after marching with my college alumni band. If I were doing a lot of marching I'd go for the King. For sound and playability I'd go for the Conn.

If they weighed the same and the Conn still played the same there would be no question that I'd prefer the Conn, Humm, a Conn that plays like a 20K but weighs as much as a King 2350, that would be a Conn 14K.
