At Carrollton, there WAS "free beer". Saturday night, at the bar, Brian Frederiksen and I were putting away Killians and watching a good old boy trying to dance to the Tennessee Tech tuba jazz ensemble. Someone elsewhere at the bar decided that they had made a mistake ordering a pitcher of Killians...so the barmaid gave it to us. gratis. She may have judged (correctly) that one pitcher would not be the end of our evening.
