Like Jay said, keep your spirits up, because things do always change.
Another option is the New Orleans model, where the musicians ARE the board and the non-musical staff. Since their take-home pay is directly derived from the profitability of the orchestra, it is probably the most fiscally responsible organization of its type in North America, if not worldwide.
Then of course, there will be the trickle-down auditions from the Boston, New York, and San Fran Jobs.
