Although it came out as a blanket statement, that wasn't my intent. I don't know whether my statement is true for all manufacturers, and I can't really give any specifics. The point of my post was to better explain what Jupiter was referring to when saying "taking a lesson from the concert tuba". They were referring to 4 valve concert tuba intonation vs. 3 valve sousaphone intonation. When I said "tuba" I was using the universal term, applying it to all low brass bass instruments. To better answer your question, someone with an allied parts book could see if the part numbers for the first valve tube on the King 3 valve and 4 valve tuba are the same, or other tubas like the Yami 201 vs 321.
