My current favorite is a Mirafone 1271 piston valve section. Not cheap, but very light & fast and comfortable, with a dual bore. I think the Gronitz valves are similar to the Walter Nirschl and Meinl Weston "big valves"; very heavy, but very free-blowing. They would sound fantastic on a big old Conn, if your hands are big enough. Examples of project tubas with both kinds of valve set are on my website.
