It'll take a lot of adjusting to, and getting used to, as a Bobo "solo" would be quite a bit wider than a D.W. #4. If you think the model 3 is too big, then I'm fearful that you'd find the Bobo way too big. It's a wide but shallow type m.p. It would definitely give you a brighter sound, and the added width would make it easier to execute spectucular leaps from bottom to top, and back down again. You could more readily do the Kraft "Encounters" on this m.p., probably.
If you're not partial to real wide m.p.'s, but still want something bigger, I'd investigate the Yamaha "Jim Self" instead. It's closer to the old Miraphone C3, and isn't quite as radical as the Bobo "solo".
