I used to own a horn with such a device (made by Joe Sellmansberger).
It worked very well. However, you need to make sure the horn is "sharp enough" already for pulling in the main tuning slide to make enough difference in the flatness of your G to make such a device worthwhile. There may or may not be enough tuning slide there. Some experimentation with a tuner beforehand would be required.
