Please consider; there may be fine teachers (and fine players) in your area that are not in an orchestra. What they lack in actual experience of the orchestral situation they may make up for in experience of how to get the most out of a person's playing. These could be individuals dedicated full time to the profession of teaching, who spend hours each day dealing with developing players. As such, it is possible that they have a greater knowledgebase, hence more 'answers' than an orchestral player who only has a small studio of students.

Ian (not denigrating the countless fine orchestral players who teach, just arguing against "if you can't do it, teach it")
