The tuba tamer or some other stand will help with breathing as well as management.

Although i'm not in the small realm, (6', 240 lbs); I used to think that the stands weren't worth the time. I tried one at a conference, and noticed a change in breathing due to not having to worry about the horn. I also believe that in my case, the ability to get the horn away fro me a little also helped.

I have stands for all my school tuba players, no matter their size. They usually save p person some bottom bow damage when used correctly.
