for the same simple reason that trombone playing slides aren't curved - to accomodate the most natural elbow motion of the trombonist's arm:

BeCAUSE the cost of producing such devices vs. their benefit would be so high as to exceed the economical interests of even the most dedicated players...not to mention that once damaged they would be virtually impossible to repair...

...and such pistons would STILL not be as fast as the fastest rotors.
