I've been looking at a new horn lately and have played a bunch of CCs. I have found with some that I liked the sound the intonation was unacceptable (I don't really care to play tuba and trombone at the same time). These weren't cheap horns, all were around $7000 and up. Now, I do expect to make some adjustments and am fully aware of the physics of brass instruments, but some of these horns were god-awful! You just don't hear other brass players learn all these crazy sets of fingerings of each of the horns they use. I can see a couple of "alternate fingering", but come on! I guess we are at the mercy of the manucturers. You would think that our instruments would have evolved a little bit mre in the last 150 odd years they have been around, especially at the price we pay......and before you start saying all the limited market, etc. stuff, I am also familiar with the whole economic side of the industry as well.

Power to the people! Let's demand more.....blah, blah. blah. What do you think?
