I could be wrong, but after playing a few of each, here's my take.

Rotary v. piston doesn't matter at all. What matters is the spring. I've had rotors with a shorter stroke than my getzen have much slower valves, because the springs won't move everything as quickly. Nothing that a good repair job couldn't fix, i'm sure. I've felt rotors that move "faster" than my Getzen, but by the time you get that fast, either piston or rotary, You can't tell the difference.

An example is in chemistry, where at many times we throw out data that, while there, is so small that it's negligible (sp?) in relation to the rest of your data.

We have the same issue with valves. There may be a difference, but it's so small it doesn't matter.
