I firmly believe that analysis of music that is to be performed really gives you an edge on the music and helps you to fully understand what the composers intent was.
Analyizing the music's harmony and voice leading and all that jazz helps you make informed decisions on phrasing, style, contour of the line and stuff like that.
Analyizing also helps you to see what the composer wanted the audience to feel as they listen to his/her piece being played; it helps you to understand the drama behind the notes on the page!
