This tuba permutation is new to me. I can not look through, whether this is a Connstellation for the photographer, or whether it is a true musical tool.

However the non-standard leadpipe points to a real custom made instrument.

The closest equivalent I ever saw was presented in a B/W Disney studio TV feature, that I watched some 40 or 45 years ago. There was a peek into the sound department, where the tool for expressing the rages of Donald Duck (or whomever) was demonstrated. It was a baritone to which a trombone slide was attached. Effectively creating a small bore E superbone-cum-tuba. I don't remember whether the fierce rips were executed with or against-the-grain, but the expression of rage was convincing.

My comparison of course is triggered by the slide-like device, which the player holds with his right hand.

What is this?
