Beauty is in the eye (or in this case lips) of the beholder. I personally cannot begin to tell you how much I hate them. BUT! Each horn out there picks a player. Try out many horns - Besson 967 & Presige, Willson 2900& 2950, Hirsbrunner, Meinl 451, Yamaha 600 & 800 series, etc. (and if you MUST, try the Sterling too). Try new and slightly used. Take your time, go to a few music conferences and stores, and REALLY find the right horn for you.

Don't choose a name - choose a musical instrument that seems to play itself in your hands. Learn a Rochut or something that tests the entire range of the horn and the flexibility. Bring a tuner. Also, bring an unbiased listener to listen to you at least 20 feet away. At least 20 feet away.

Hope this helps.
