I would definitely take into account whether this was a student accompanist, area accompanist, or professor. If it was a professor (which I don't think that it was, they could handle that music), have your teacher talk this person...he is very good with people as you know. If it were one of the others, pay them for the additional 40 minutes and don't ever use them again. I just spent $400 on a recital for the best accompanist around, she wouldn't rehearse until a week before and still did not have all of the music completed. At the recital however, she was amazing. She is the best pianist that I have ever worked with and will never use her again. Had the recital not gone as well, I would have thought about paying her less. It's too bad that it has to work out like that.
