Sound spectrum analyzers for the Mac have been in short supply. The ones that were available were either extremely complex, poorly designed, didn't work with OS X, or expensive. There's a new one called SignalScope that's simple, works well, and is fairly inexpensive shareware. It's not a complex tool that's fit for a scientist, but it's fine for a casual hobbyist who wants to examine the frequency makeup of musical (or other) tones.
