I would suggest something that the class would quickly understand, such as listening and appreciating great music. No one in the class needs or perhaps even wants to know how to breathe more efficiently to play a brass instrument, but a lesson on the fugue from Bach to today, or the history of the symphony from Haydn to Mahler could be really exciting. Or how classical music influenced the Beatles and Billy Joel. Or a history of gospel songs and the blues evolving into jazz and then R & B. Definitely spend more time playing music than talking. Teach them something that will make them want to go to symphony hall for the first time, or to hear live jazz. Or will make them want to learn more about great music and leave the pop section of the record store. Teach the class of music ed majors something, not a band lesson. Teach to the room.
