I have played both the MW2165, the Hirsbrunner Grand Orchestral, and the Nirschl. All of them are nice. Most people will tell you that the MW2165 is a little harder to play than the others and also takes a little more air. I think it is nice, and probably the darkest sound out of all of them. I think of the Hirsbrunner is a little lighter in sound, and maybe a little more agile than the MW. Soundwise, it is inbetween the MW and the Nirschl. The Nirschl is even more agile than the Hirsbrunner, BUT I remember that the low range was a little stuffy. It is lighter in weight and sound out of all of them, but all of these tubas have a big fat round sound on the darker side. All of them are nice, and originally I liked the Nirschl the best, but now that I think about it, I would probably choose a real good Hirsbrunner(HB50) out of them. I you are looking for a seriously dark sound though, the Meinl-Weston2165 is it.
