Being a college teacher myself, I can say one thing. Your undergrad years can be very productive almost anywhere. As long as you know who to contact for questions and stay up on what is out there and who is out there, you'll be fine. I would concentrate on where you are going to get that MM from. Thats where the real moving and shaking goes on. I know many players who attended small colleges and universities with poor music programs that went on to get their MM at Northwestern and Michigan, etc....
Don't get me wrong, it never hurts to start at a more prestigious school, but in some ways, it allows you more time to yourself, and lets the heavy 'stress' playing until your MM.
