This may be because the inside diameter of a 5/8 garden hose is well within the normal range for rim sizes on the average trumpet mouthpiece. forty odd years of lip buzzing probably contributed as well. But point taken nonethe less- the lack of any real difference may esll reflect simply that I uses a length of hose long enough to mask any difference induced by the mouthpiece bore.venturi vice just lips on an aperture. I was reluctant to cut up yet another perfectly good hose to experiment with different lengths.....
