At one occasion I had to play with guitars, drums, keyboards, and that sort of things (even singers).

At a rehearsal the 12 string guitar players tuned his guitar to an electronic tuner, while the sound went out over the amplification. At some point of time he maintained to be satisfied with the result. I told him, that his top E strings didn't match. He replied, that they both matched a=440 on the tuner. My reply was that then one string had the needle right below the mark and the other string had the needle right above the mark.

"That devil is right!" was the exclaim, but by then the standards were set and no further problems occurred.
