I suspect that the repeated (and authoritative) inclusion of "Tommy Johnson" and "Norman Pearson" had more effect than "Master of Music" and "Bachelor of Music", or even "New Valley Symphony", etc.
Having 1.) studied with known great performers, and 2.) gotten their permission to provide a reference (assuming they provide a good one when asked) probably is the best resume fodder for activities like music, which are best learned at the hands of a master. It says the person has already passed a tough audition, just not with this committee.
