Holts was once asked what the difference was between a tenor tuba and a euphonium. He replied that a tenor tuba was a euphonium whithout all that silly vibrato. To me it also seems silly to consider a piston valved instrument a euphonuim but a rotary valved instrument a tenor tuba, as if the instruments are totally different. We don't consider rotary valved tubas the real tuba and piston valved tubas to be a different kind of instrument do we?
